Okta Multifactor Authentication

Overview

R&T uses Okta to provide a secure and consistent sign-in experience across applications. Okta is an identity and authentication platform that manages how users sign in and verify their identity.

With Okta, all users sign in through a standard login experience and complete a verification step to confirm their identity. This replaces previous authentication methods and ensures a single, unified approach across R&T applications.

Verification is completed using one of the following methods:

  • Okta Verify (recommended) – Provides the fastest and most streamlined sign-in experience.
  • Google Authenticator – Generates a one-time verification code that can be used to complete sign-in.
  • Email verification – Sends a one-time verification code to your corporate email address.

Users who are new or who have been migrated to Okta will receive an activation email with a link to set up their account and choose a verification method.

This guide explains how to sign in, set up your authentication method, and resolve common access issues using Okta.

Before You Begin

Before signing in with Okta, make sure you have the following:

Application Access

Before you can sign in, you must be granted access to the application by your organization. If you believe you need access, contact your organization's authorized administrator or client access coordinator. If additional assistance is needed, reach out to R&T Client Services.

Individual user account

Each user must sign in using their own username and password. Shared mailboxes and distribution lists are not supported.

Access to your email

You may receive activation, verification, or password reset emails. Make sure you can access your email and check your Junk or Spam folder if an expected message does not arrive.

A verification method

All users must complete a verification step when signing in. You will use one of the following:

  • Okta Verify (recommended)
  • Google Authenticator
  • Email verification

Authenticator apps are strongly recommended, but email verification is available when needed.

If you plan to use Okta Verify or Google Authenticator, install the application on your mobile device before beginning setup.

Access the Application

To access an R&T application, navigate to the application link provided by your organization. In most cases, this will be portal.rnt.com. When you open the R&T application, you will be redirected to the Okta sign-in screen. All users sign in through this screen using their Okta credentials.

  1. Enter your username.
  2. Enter your password.
  3. Select Sign In.

After you sign in, Okta will prompt you to verify your identity before granting access to the application.

If you have not yet set up your account, follow the instructions in your activation email before attempting to sign in.
